The goal of this website is to raise public awareness on a global scale, to the condition of abject poverty existing for tens of thousands of children, living in specific regions in the Philippines.
Also, the goal of this website is to make this statement.
Together:
For many children, we can break the endless cycle of poverty.
I am an American, and former Christian pastor, living now in the Philippines, and founder of the GAF foundation, a registered 501c3 charity organization. I am actively engaged in helping many Filipino children escape the cycle of poverty, primarily by providing assistance with nutritional and educational concerns.
Our program is working toward implement a feeding and educational strategy with a No Child Left Behind agenda. Eat and learn is the principal concept.
It’s understood here in the Philippines, there IS provided public schools, and education is compulsory. However, not enforced in many areas due to the extreme hardships caused by poverty, and the lack of funds in the school’s budgets to offset those hardships.
Presently we have one location established in the Olarte Community of GenSan providing hot meals and see roughly 40 students in the class. We also provide a community feeding once a week with the help of a local church.
In the Mountainous area near Lake Sebu are several communities on our radar to establish feeding and learning center’s, but currently lack the funds to proceed.
